Job Description

On behalf of our client, a global, commercial-stage oncology company developing a differentiated platform of oral, precision-targeted therapies for genetically-defined cancers, Smelt.nl is looking for a Medical Science Liaison for the Netherlands. In this role, you will engage in peer-to-peer scientific dialogue with healthcare professionals, act as a therapeutic expert and thought partner internally, and serve as the key liaison between the organization and clinical study sites and investigators.

What will you do

  • Develop and strengthen relationships with KOLs, healthcare professionals and academic centres of excellence within your territory, across the various phases of product development
  • Engage in proactive and reactive peer-to-peer scientific dialogue, translating clinical and scientific data into meaningful insights for HCPs and internal teams
  • Support medical education, advisory boards and medical congresses to enhance scientific visibility within the medical community
  • Serve as the liaison between the organization and clinical study sites/investigators, and as a credible scientific resource for internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Commercial, Program Management, Clinical Operations and Compliance to support medical strategy and execution
  • Stay current with scientific literature, emerging research and the competitive landscape, feeding relevant insights back into the organization
  • Operate within applicable regulatory requirements for field-based HCP engagement

What will you bring

  • A doctoral degree in a scientific or medical discipline
  • 8+ years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison or in a similar role within pharma/biotech in the Netherlands
  • Strong understanding of clinical research methodologies and drug development processes
  • Oncology experience, ideally in lung and/or gastrointestinal cancers
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, able to translate complex scientific data for diverse audiences
  • Strong networking skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships with KOLs and healthcare professionals
  • A self-directed, proactive and detail-oriented working style, able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Willingness to travel up to 60% of your time

What does the client offer

  • A high-visibility role within a fast-growing, science-driven oncology organization, with direct impact on how a differentiated therapy platform reaches patients
  • Close collaboration with an experienced, cross-functional Medical Affairs team and broader international organization
  • The opportunity to work at the forefront of a novel precision-oncology approach, engaging directly with leading KOLs and academic centres
  • A competitive employment package in line with the seniority and scope of the role
